U. S. Army Heritage Center
AHEC, the primary historical facility for the U. S. Army, consists of the Military History Institute, the Army Heritage Museum and the U. S. Army Conservation Center. The mission of AHEC is to preserve the heritage of the U. S. Army by acquiring Army-related artifacts, documents and photos and make them available to the public.
The Army Heritage Museum endeavors to educate the public through interpretive exhibits and educational programs by “Telling the Army story, one soldier at a time”. Tours provide insight and knowledge of US Army History and include a walk through history on the Army Heritage Trail.
The Army Heritage Trail consists of 13 life-size reconstructions, which include a French and Indian War way station, a WWI trench system, a section of the Antietam battlefield, a replicated Omaha beachhead scene from D-Day and more. The Cold War exhibit features a Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter and an M-60 Patton Main Battle Tank.
The Center hosts a number of special events throughout the year that include educational lectures and the annual Army Heritage Days held in May. Army Heritage Days is a living history event with reenactments from the French and Indian War through our current enlisted Soldiers.
