The Purple Door Festival is dedicated to showcasing contemporary Christian and Holy Hip Hop musical artists from around the country and typically takes place in the late summer. The event is one of the largest music festivals in the country and features three stages for musical performers, an art gallery and a dedicated stage for seminars, presentations and workshops. In 2009, attendance was estimated between 5,000 to 8,000 people and included 30 nationally-recognized performers. The festival started in 1996 and has showcased several Indie artists, including Relient K, Sixpence None the Richer, Pedro the Lion and As I Lay Dying, amongst others.
